Düsseldorf, 25 April 2024 – On the occasion of the World Day for Safety and Health at Work on 28 April 2024, the leading trade fair A+A and Basi, the German Federal Association for Occupational Safety and Health (Basi), are reaffirming their commitment to the further development of global occupational safety and health. Using the hashtag #WorldSafetyandHealthDay, A+A and its partner Basi are calling on everyone involved to discuss the future of safety and health on social networks. The aim is to find solutions for the wide-ranging challenges in a rapidly changing world of work.
Innovative approaches in a changing world of work
Ongoing digitalisation, climate change and developments in the world of work 4.0 pose new and complex challenges for companies and their employees – including mental stress due to excessive demands, increased flexibility and disruption (new or significantly changed business models). In addition to well-known hazards such as asbestos, new products are creating 'hazmats' whose impact on workers' health is often not yet known.
"We keep an eye on current issues, developments and trends in occupational safety and health at the A+A Congress, Germany's central joint event for occupational safety and health with an international reach. In addition, we regularly issue invitations to discussions on selected topics. On the occasion of World Day 2024, the successful online event 'Basi in Dialogue' will highlight the benefits of standardisation processes for occupational safety on 25 April at 3:30 pm", explains Dr Christian Felten, Managing Director of Basi.
“A+A serves as a central platform for the exchange and development of measures that make workplaces safer and healthier”, explains Lars Wismer, Director of A+A, and goes on to say: “On the World Day for Safety and Health at Work, A+A will closely cooperate with Basi to raise the global awareness for the implementation of safety standards by means of targeted communication and education activities.”
Strengthening occupational safety and global networking
Global networking strengthens occupational safety and health by enabling the exchange of best practices and innovative solutions across national borders. Messe Düsseldorf supports this approach with its international trade fair portfolio Occupational Safety & Health, which includes CIOSH in Shanghai, OSHA in Singapore and TOS+H Expo 2024 in Turkey. Basi cooperates with the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (EU-OSHA), the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the ORP Foundation (Occupational Risk Prevention) to promote the cause.
